College student sings at Cambridge University

A student from King Edward VI College in Nuneaton spent three days at Cambridge University on a Choral residential programme this summer.

Samantha Cloves, a second year student from Earl Shilton, was awarded a place on the programme after her music teacher Sally Powell encouraged her to apply.

The three day programme consisted of music workshops and lectures and concluded with a concert which was held in the Trinity Chapel

samclovesSamantha said “The whole experience was fantastic.  I loved every minute.  Having the opportunity to perform in somewhere like the Trinity Chapel was amazing.  I’m so glad I applied and thank Sally for encouraging me.”

Samantha has singing lesson outside of college and is currently working toward her Grade 8 in singing.

Music teacher at the college Sally Powell said “Samantha, who is extremely enthusiastic and a very promising vocalist, was a perfect choice. It was an opportunity for her to get a feel for life as a Choral Scholar at Cambridge and an idea of what is involved when studying music at university as well as the chance to sing with the world famous Trinity choir.”

Currently studying Drama, English Language and Music, Samantha plans to go on to study Music Performance at University next year.
