How to apply to King Edward VI College
Applications for September 2021 are open, applications submitted from 1 May 2021 will be as classed as ‘late’ applications. The easiest and most convenient way to apply is on-line. Before you apply, you will need to ensure you have the full information required to complete your application. Along with your own personal information you will also need the following:
all parental contact information
predicted GCSE grades for all subjects
A Level / Vocational subject choices
Once you have completed the form and sent it to us you will receive an e-mail acknowledgement (please check ‘junk’ folder if there is a delay).
If you would prefer to complete a paper application, please either download a version from the website or request a copy from our Admissions team.
There is no closing date for the receipt of applications but we strongly advise you to submit your application by Friday 30 April 2021 to ensure the offer of a place in September 2021 (applications received after this date will be classed as ‘late’ applications which means you wont know if you have a place with us until after the main Enrolment period – courses will be subject to availability).
What happens next?
All applicants will have a Guidance Meeting – if Covid-19 restrictions are still in place we will be offering telephone appointments – otherwise the meeting will take place either here at the college or in your school (depending on which school you attend). You will be informed where and when your meeting will take place by e-mail. Meeting appointments are issued approximately 1 week prior to the date, so please don’t worry if there is a delay hearing from us after acknowledgement of application, we arrange meetings from February to May.
The Guidance Meeting is quite informal but it is important to be well prepared for it. Please make sure you have read the prospectus and checked the entry requirements on the website for the courses you are applying for. At your meeting we will ask to see a copy of your most recent school report (or another document which gives your predicted grades).
This is the chance for us to find out more about you and for you to ask us any questions so make a note of anything you may like to ask before you come – you may forget on the day!
Upon a successful guidance meeting, you will receive, in writing, an offer of a provisional place. All offers are conditional on you meeting the college entry requirements and the entry requirements for the courses you are applying for.
Should you require additional support to attend your meeting, eg mobility restrictions, etc, please contact Sharon Berrill on firstname.lastname@example.org
This event takes place this year during week commencing Monday 28 June 2021. You will be invited to attend this event for you to sample the courses you have applied for, meet tutors and fellow students, get a feel for the college and find your way around the college buildings. You will have a taste of college life and experience the support and facilities we have to offer.
Friday 27 August – Thursday 3 September – Exact date/time to enrol will be e-mailed to you. By this time you will have your GCSE results (issued on Friday 27 August) which you will need to bring with you to help with discussions on your final choice of subjects to study with us. Please try to avoid holidays during this time.
Week commencing 6 September (week before Start of Term) – Exact day of required attendance to be advised with your enrolment appointment – All students who have enrolled with us are expected to attend one of these very important days.
This is when you will receive your welcome pack, meet Progress Coaches, be given instructions about logging onto computers and access to resources, and get information about support structures and facilities within the college.
Please note: all correspondence from the college will be via e-mail so please check your e-mails regularly. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions team on 024 7632 8231 or email email@example.com
