    Course Overview

Completing this course can be helpful if you work in the caring professions or are interested in counselling. The course is focused on the practical use of counselling skills. CSK-L2 is the first stage of a four
stage programme which runs through to diploma level (level 4) and above. You can also take the course on its own, to develop skills that are useful in any situation where you are dealing with people, to develop life skills and for your own awareness and interest. You will learn counselling skills to help others – either in a voluntary or an employed situation. Some of the skills you will be learning include: listening, boundaries, confidentiality, empathy, open questioning, summarising and many more. You may want to find out more about this field – this course will not teach you to be a counsellor but it may help you decide whether or not to continue training. Credit Units 17.
