Introduction To Counselling Skills: Level 2
This course is focused on an introduction to the practical use of skills and is open to anyone interested in finding out about counselling. The course can be a standalone course for people working within the caring professions or for anyone wanting to enhance their communication skills. The course is based on the Person Centered approach to helping. The course is practical and participative. Personal development is an important aspect of the course, as is self-reflection. There are no specific entry requirements for this course. You do not have to complete this course to do the Level 2 Certificate.
Certificate in Counselling Skills: Level 2
Completing this course can be helpful if you work in the caring professions or are interested in counselling. The course is focused on the practical use of counselling skills. CSK-L2 is the first stage of a four
stage programme which runs through to diploma level (level 4) and above. You can also take the course on its own, to develop skills that are useful in any situation where you are dealing with people, to develop life skills
and for your own awareness and interest. You will learn counselling skills to help others – either in a voluntary or an employed situation. Some of the skills you will be learning include: listening, boundaries, confidentiality, empathy, open questioning, summarising and many more. You may want to find out more about this field – this course will not teach you to be a counsellor but it may help you decide whether or not to continue training. Credit Units 17.

Certificate in Counselling Theory: Level 3
Completing this course can be helpful if you work in the caring professions or are interested in counselling. The course builds on the counselling skills looked at within Level 2 by studying the counselling theory that underpins the skills. The theory studied is Person Centered. Supervision is also a part of this course. Completion of the two courses together prepares you for entry onto the Level 4 diploma, subject to interviews. The next course would be the Diploma in Counselling (Level 4). CST-L3 is accredited by the Office of the Qualifications & Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) into the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). Credit Units 20.
Cost: £530 – 96 Hours
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Person Centred Theory): Level 4
This qualification is a two year course that leads to successful candidates holding a Diploma qualifying them as counsellors working within an agency setting. All candidates are encouraged to carry on gaining experience and working towards BACP accreditation before starting a private practice. There are several elements to this course, all of which need to be passed before a proficient grade is given:
•Passing an external exam
•Completing a portfolio
•Carried out 100 hours supervised placement
•Received Personal Counselling
•10 hours year one
•15 hours year two
The course will run on a Wednesday afternoon from 2.00pm to 9.00pm. It will be staffed with two tutors.TC-L4 is accredited by the Office of the Qualifications & Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) into the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). Credit Units 120
