Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in Engineering
Assessment: Assessment is through written modular exams in January and June, and coursework assignments which are a combination of written and practical research.

Overview:Cambridge Technical level 3 Engineering is aimed at students who want to develop their practical skills and knowledge of theory in Electronic, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, in preparation for progression into employment or higher education. Units covered include: Mathematics for Engineering, Science for Engineering, Principles of Mechanical Engineering, Principles of Electrical Engineering. Much of the work will include practical hands on circuit building, and computer simulation, and investigation of mechanics principles.
Minimum College Entry Requirements (5 A*-C or equivalent) including Maths 4 and Science CC or BTEC Merit
There may be small additional costs related to optional visits and trips.
Students study a selection of six mandatory and optional units over the two year course. This level 3 qualification is equivalent to an A Level. Four units will have exams, available in January and June with one re-take allowed.The other two units are assessed by coursework. This would provide a good foundation for progression alongside other appropriate Level 3 qualifications either directly into employment or to higher education to follow an Engineering related course.
This is a practically based subject, which is assessed through coursework assignments as well as modular examinations. You do not need to have studied Electronics or Engineering before.
