We are excited to be able to offer a qualification that will give you a grounding in the skills needed by, and the services offered by, different types of social care and health professionals. Health and Social Care is a multi-disciplinary practical subject that combines elements of Biology, Sociology and Psychology with an awareness of legal issues. Modules may include Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care and Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care and Health Safety and Security in Health and Social Care.
Minimum College Entry Requirements (5 A*-C or equivalent) including Science CC and a 4 in Maths and English Language.
There will be some costs associated with visits to health care settings.
The health and social care sector encompasses staff involved in direct care, as well as specialists such as health scientists, technicians, support staff, supervisors and managers. Job opportunities exist in the statutory, private and voluntary provision of care services. This qualification can provide a springboard to a university degree or Foundation Degree in an appropriate vocational discipline, to HNCs and HNDs, or to employment.
The Certificate course would combine well with A Levels in subjects such as Biology and Psychology and Soiology. You are likely to have good people skills and a desire to gain employment in a related field.
