Stella Maris-Orim – Community Governor

Stella is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing at Coventry University.

She completed her PhD in 2015 with her thesis focusing on the development of a framework for the management of student academic misconduct (plagiarism). Stella also holds a BEng in Computer Science and Engineering; MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security; MSc in Telecommunication Management; Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of the Advance HE.

She is a Chartered Manager of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and has worked for over 2 years in Nigerian HE and over 10 years in the UK HE. In the last 7 years, Stella has contributed to different HE Quality and Standards roles and made considerable contributions to several funded research projects into corruption in HE (IPPHEAE, PAICKT, SEEPPAI) and HE Governance (CHEA/CIQG). She is also researching into corruption in HE provisions in Africa (Nigeria and Ghana) and contributes to Transnational (Ghana, Malaysia, Oman) Standards and Quality offerings. She has contributed greatly to the development of the Coventry University Group strategy on Academic Integrity.

Stella is the Course Director of the MSc. Management of Information Systems and Technology (MIST) course. In this role, she is involved in the development of new, review and revalidation of existing courses. As External Examiner in University of Bedfordshire and University of Salford, she is tasked with the safeguarding of Academic Standards, evaluation of Teaching, Learning and Assessment as well as helping ensure fairness and consistency in student experience.
